Here are some of our recommendations for wee ones ages 12 months to 2 years

Celestial Star Explorer by Manhattan Toy for kids ages 12 months+

A multi-layer standing toy that provides many opportunities for play, including 8 bead mazes, 2 clickety-clackety wooden doors, a moon that wiggles when moved, some gliders that move through the wood when pushed/pulled, a see-thru door that children can move up and down, and lots more tactile and pretend play discovery.  It's large enough for a few children to play with at once.  And although it's big, it's specifically made for kids who can stand up on their own, as it may not support a child who uses it for support.

Trott'it Walking Toy by Djeco for kids ages 1+

As children learn to walk, having a toy they can hold onto to help with balance, is a must.  This walker from Djeco has a simple design and a braking system that can be adjusted as your child learns walking skills.  Plus, it has a wagon to hold lots of fun stuff in!

Musical Whale Fountain Bath Toy by Hape for kids ages 18 months+

Hape's Musical Whale Fountain Bath Toy is all the rage!  There are 5 little whales that spray water in a few different modes.  The whales will play music and spray water freely in auto-mode.  Kids can press each whale to make water spray and notes to sound.  The fountain has 3 silicone suction cups that keep it attached to the bathtub and the ideal water level is 4-6 inches.  It takes 2 AA batteries, which aren't included and has a triple waterproof seal for the batteries to ensure no leaking.  This bath toy is ideal for kids 18 months +

Topanifarm Stacking Toy for kids ages 18 months+

This is a best-selling and favourite toy among many of the staff here at Owls Hollow.  There is so much benefit for children with this stacking game from Djeco.  While playing with this toy, kids will learn stacking skills as they place one cardboard box on top of another, and then they'll learn about cause & effect, as they knock their tower over.  These boxes can be stacked so that the little doors and other open spaces can be spots to place the little animals that are included in the set, or other small toys.  As children grow, these boxes can be used for more pretend play.  

SpinAgain Toy for kids ages 12 months +

This stacking spinning toy from Fat Brain Toys will stimulate young children as they watch pieces they put onto the rod, twirl down the spiral.  The base can be used as a flat bottom for more stability and as your child learns building skills, the base can be switched so that it is round on the bottom to make it more rolly and more difficult!

The Original Sensory Ball from Edushape for kids ages 6 months +

Last but definitely not least... Textures Sensory Ball from Edushape.  Balls are the ultimate development toy for young children!  By rolling and catching and bouncing and throwing, kids learn tactile sensory development, fine and gross motor skills.  This ball is a nice size for little kids to learn to grasp with both hands and has lots of textured bits for stimulation.
