Board Game Corner: Micro Macro - Crime City

Board Game Corner: Micro Macro - Crime City

My review of the game MicroMacro - Crime City. Find the small traces to solve the big cases.

Players: 1-4

Playing Time: 15-45 Minutes

Ages: 12+

Complexity: 1/5

Channel your inner detective! This game was like playing a gigantic Where's Waldo. I found it to be a nice change from the usual games we play. MicroMacro was easy to play, easy to set up and had a range of complexities. I like that I could play the game by myself, or I can play it with a group.

Open up the gigantic map (we used sticky tack and hung it up on the wall and it worked great!) and start with the beginner case to get a feel for how the game is played. Each crime is enclosed in an envelope. Begin by reading the top card to get an overview of the case, then the next card tells you what to find. Once you find it, you go on to the next card. Piece together the crime by going through the map, ALL the answers can be found on the map, and there shouldn't be any gaps.

If you find solving is easy for you, you can always play the advanced version. You solve the cases by only using the top card. Then when you think you have it solved, you go through all the cards in one shot answering all the questions.

Note to parents: Some themes parents may find are not appropriate for young children. So on the top left corner there is a symbol which tells you what kind of crime it is.

The game has 16 crimes, ranging from easy to hard. This game is great for families, or to whip out when you have friends over. You can choose how long you want to play for, which is great for those that don't like long games.

All you need is a keen eye, good lighting, and your detective skills!
